I'm Mike. I'm an SRE. I've been writing software professionally since 1998, and keeping other people's software running for most of that. Before that, I was a kid with a copy of Turbo Pascal and too much time.

Day to day: Python and Bash for almost everything. Go when it earns its keep. JavaScript and TypeScript when I have to — a necessary evil for the dashboards and internal tools that inevitably grow around an infra team.

I believe in plain text, durable URLs, and runbooks written as if the person reading them is competent, stressed, slightly psychopathic… and knows where you live. And don't get me started about shipping dashboards nobody asked for. I think RSS isn't dead and alert fatigue is a design problem, not a people problem.
